I started my health and fitness journey after the birth of my daughter in 2014. This is when I was diagnosed with Underactive Thyroid and found it difficult to lose weight, in fact I just kept on gaining.

Through the next 6 years I navigated my way through FAD diets, misleading marketing and food claims as well as using fitness as a weight loss tool. Along the way I studied fitness and nutrition and uncovered so much dishonesty it infuriated me, as if I hadn’t had been misinformed or mislead, loosing the weight would have been so much easier!

In 2020, the first lock down happened, the day after my 32nd birthday and this was when thisfitmum was born. I was going through a difficult divorce and found myself homeless but managed to find myself a 2-bedroom flat for me and the kiddies just before lock down happened. Then the realisation set in that I had no outdoor space and a 6 and 3 year old as my isolation partners. Home schooling was impossible whilst trying to do my day job in recruitment and HR, so my amazing company agreed to furlough me to relieve me from some of the pressure.

But then lock down kept on going and with no purpose I found myself going insane, so I started studying, I started looking more info fitness and nutrition again. I had been doing some online workouts which made me feel incredible and I decided I wanted to do that. So, in my little messy covid bound flat I popped on my live feed and started jumping around my living room, kids climbing over me, interrupting me because they needed the loo and even having to put my little boy on the naughty step in full view of everyone joining in with me.

It all felt very amateur, I had no equipment, no editing tools, no fancy background … but people loved it. I was a little shocked to be honest, but the feedback was that I was ‘real’. I didn’t glamorise fitness, I wasn’t trying to be someone I wasn’t, I was just being a mum trying to keep fit and people could relate to that. It was all a bit of a whirlwind then with radio interviews and recordings with ITV, I also partnered with Mind Mental Health, This Girl Can and also had a few features in the newspapers including in the Star.

I found a passion for something, a passion for helping others, a passion for empowering women. So many women were asking me about my weight loss and how I had managed to do it, especially with underactive thyroid & PCOS and I knew I had to share my knowledge.

Diet Coaching was born. I'm eager to pass on what I've learned. My goal is simple: to inspire and support others in feeling amazing about themselves through a healthy approach to eating and exercise, without the hassle of strict diets. My approach is through education and habit implementation. We all know that changing to a healthier lifestyle can be challenging. We've got habits deeply ingrained over years. That's why I'm all about taking it one step at a time, Diet Coaching is your foundation to build up from.

It has been a whirlwind ever since and I am filled with pride with the amount of women I have supported to become proud owners of their bodies again and joining in with us on group activities like empowerment shoots! Watching that penny drop moment when someone gets it, it never gets old for me I honestly love it and most of all I love the group of women in THISFITCREW who support eachother, invite in new members with open arms and have given me an extra arm to my family!
