Afghanistan Crisis - The walk for freedom - Donate to Support

Updated: Aug 30, 2021

Nothing shows more desperation than a mother giving away their baby to enable their safety. Watching a soldier pull children from frantic crowds. People holding onto planes taking off desperate to reach safety.

I won’t lie I’ve struggled - as a non significant human sitting watching not being able to do anything to help.

I always mention circles of control, some things you can, somethings you can’t. But it’s not to say the things you can’t control won’t affect you, because they can.

I’m a big believer that if you can be a nicer, kinder person and work on being a better you, it will make the world a nicer place. If everyone just took a moment to think before they speak, before they type, before they act. Maybe just maybe it might rub off onto others who may do the same.

Fitness is my go to, a way to cope during rough situations. I felt useless so just decided to walk a marathon spontaneously, a way to raise money, try to help but also sort my head out. Laura - the queen she is, downed tools and joined me … what a legend is she! And I’m so grateful.

Laura’s support and kindness not only helped me raise money but she also stopped me from spending every step thinking about all the hurt and pain in the world. She reminded me there is still kindness and love … and hope. She empowered me.

So today I count my blessings for my safety, my freedom and my friends and I prey for the safety and freedom of the civilians in Afghanistan.

Please help me raise funds for the tearfund who are supporting the crisis in Afghanistan. Violent conflict has forced around 390,000 people from their homes. Having run for their lives with little more than the clothes on their backs, they are in urgent need of support. Tearfund’s local partners are on the ground now, providing life-saving relief packages.
