tips for fat loss for mums

Achieving fat loss means making a change to your current lifestyle habits. In my personal journey, I dedicated a considerable amount of time to enhancing my strength and muscle mass by consuming a surplus of calories. This phase was enjoyable and rewarding as I witnessed my body transform and grow stronger. It was fun whilst it lasted but it was time to lose the excess fat. This transition marked a new chapter in my fitness journey, where I shifted my focus towards creating a calorie deficit.

Below are 10 sacrifices and tips for fat loss for mums which helped me to achieve 6kg weight loss in 12 weeks:


1. Gave up alcohol - those who know me I love a bevvy 🤣


2. Meal prepped all my own food and avoided premade where possible (and no take aways)


3. Ensured I had 30-50g protein per meal


4. Had half a plate of vegetables most lunches and dinners


5. Went to bed earlier and woke up earlier to fit in cardio whilst kids were in bed (plot twist: I feel so good for this and will keep it up)


6. Gave up working on PBs and focused on RPE listening to my body (you can lose strength in a deficit)


7. I walked on the treadmill instead of watching tv in the evening once the kids were in bed to get my steps in that I couldn’t manage in the day


8. Tracked everything and was honest with myself - days especially during PMS were hard but accountability made me stay on track


9. Spent 4 hours a week meal prepping for the week ahead


10. Doing it even when I didn’t feel like it



Being disciplined is so empowering - and if you’re thinking ‘I don’t have time for that, or I have hormonal issues or chronic illnesses so would never achieve that’ … you can do it!
